A PC with PSU not having a sufficient amount of current on 12V rail will encounter performance loss, frequent restarts, instability and may also cause damage to components including the PSU itself. A modern-day computer having a budget graphics card should have at least 30A current on 12V Rail. This is because most of the major components of PC including Processor, Motherboard, Hard disk, Fans, and Graphics Card draw power or current from the 12V rail. The most important thing to look for in a power supply is the amount of current present on the 12V rail. There are various power supplies available in the market from different brands but you should be very careful in choosing a PSU because a cheap and non-branded power supply can affect the performance of your PC and may also cause damage to your expensive components like a graphics card. Without a PSU you won’t be able to start your computer. PSU or SMPS supplies power to almost all the important components of your PC that include a processor, motherboard, memory, hard disk, fans, graphics card, and other peripheral devices & components.
